[At some point in Mid May, Luke bursts into Random Play, new object in hand.]

[It's a bangboo! It's blue and white! And looking at it doesn't make Luke feel weird at all.]

Look! It's one of the...things! You have.

[He pauses on the word "thing." It makes him uncomfortable, but he can't put his finger on why.]

I got it from the weird shop.

[Belle, rearranging some DVDs, waves hello at Luke, then blinks at the blue and white Bangboo in surprise. Eous also perks up on sight of another Bangboo, and hops off its stool to waddle up to it and say hello.]

You mean a Bangboo. Yeah, the Goodwill's been handing them out. [Leaning down a little to greet the Bangboo eye-to-eye:] Hi, little guy! I'm Belle, this is Eous. ['Ehn!'] You have a name or do you need a new one?

[To Luke:] It's not acting weird, is it? Like bumping into things or repeating certain phrases? I can repair it if it is.

[replicannot]

[The Bangboo wiggles in Luke's arms and waves back to Belle. He's a very happy Bangboo.]

Ehh-ne-ne!

[Luke gives the Bangboo a little pat. Cute little thing.]

Nah, he's just been talking like Eous does. I don't know if he has a name, but I bumped into a cat on the way here. For some reason, he reminds me of the sound a cat makes?

Ah, that's their language. I can teach you if you want, but generally Bangboo are pretty good at making their needs known even if communication's iffy.

[Eh? She squints at the Bangboo, tilting her head to the side.]

He doesn't look much like a cat to me, but okay. If you don't know his name, you can give him one. If he minds, he'll let you know. ['Ehn-ne? Ehn-nha ehn.' (Is it a black cat? We call it Inky, he's sweet but a little shy.')] Eous says if it's the black cat you bumped into, that one's named Inky.

Whoa, they have their own language!?

[That's really neat. He wants to learn it.]

Inky? Do you like that name?

[Eh, ne! Ehna nha eh. (No, like the sound Inky makes! Mew, my name is Mewboo!]

He seems...mad?

They do! And it's not hard to pick up.

[Belle might be a little biased.]

Oh! He says his name is Mewboo, like how cats meow. It's nice to meet you too, Mewboo. [Pause.] Do you wanna give him a snazzy outfit? I have some Bangboo costumes from the Goodwill.

Mewboo, huh? You're a cute little guy, you know?

[More headpats from Luke. He might be a brat sometimes, but even he can't overlook how adorable the bangboo is. It's not like he's going to call him "Thing" all the time, who would do that?]

How about that? Want some outfits?

[Mewboo nods enthusiastically in response.]

['Ehn-nha!' (Of course he's cute!) Well, Eous is very uplifting of other Bangboo, that's for certain. Belle gives it a headpat, then nods.]

I'll be right back. Eous, can you re-sort some of these movies for me? Can't tell if Misery is supposed to be horror or thriller.

[Eous nods, and Belle goes off to the back to go and retrieve the box. Ultimately, Misery goes under thriller, just as Belle comes back with a box of Bangboo costumes.]
